In the oilfield, the combination of powerful equipment, flammable chemicals and processes that are under high pressure can lead to hazadous and even deadly incidents.
Software in the oilfield industry must adhere to the highest quality to ensure efficient and safe operation in every steps of the oilfield life cycle where these softwares are being used.
Due to the hazadous environment, when accidents do occur, the result are usually castatrophic. The Deepwater Horizon explosion (pictured below) is such a case. Read more about it here.
